Alexandria Police Investigate Bank Robbery in Old Town

The Alexandria Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a robbery that occurred this morning at the Virginia Commerce Bank at 506 King Street in Alexandria. There were no injuries.

Around 9 a.m., a suspect entered the bank and approached a teller. The suspect, armed with a handgun, demanded money and the victim complied. The suspect then fled from the bank in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s, and 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall. He was clean-shaven and well dressed, wearing a grey fedora hat with a black band, a shirt and tie, a tan or grey long dress coat, and dress shoes.
