Alexandria Police Seek Identity of Bank Robber

Alexandria detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the man who robbed a bank in Old Town earlier this month. Police are releasing video footage and still photos from security cameras with the hope that someone will recognize the suspect.

On January 8, just after 11 a.m., the suspect entered the Cardinal Bank at 1737 King Street. He approached the teller counter, brandished a gun and demanded money. He vaulted the counter and removed money from the teller drawers. He then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium complexion, 35 to 45 years old, 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall, and wearing a hooded jacket and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703-838-4711.
