UPDATED REMINDER: CITY OF ALEXANDRIA ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF SERVICES
FOR JANUARY 15 MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY
State Offices Also Closed on Jan. 12 for Lee-Jackson Day

All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. City Finance Department offices and windows in City Hall will remain closed on Saturday, Jan. 13, for the holiday observance. Finance offices are normally open on the second Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Schools: Alexandria City Public Schools and administrative offices will be closed on Jan. 15.

Recreation Centers: The Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 am to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15. The Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Mt. Vernon, William Ramsay, Charles Barrett, Patrick Henry, and Nannie J. Lee recreation centers will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All part-time recreation centers will be closed.

Libraries: All City of Alexandria Libraries will be closed on Jan. 15.

Transit: Alexandria Transit Company DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, Jan. 15.

Refuse Collection: Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday, Jan. 15. Scheduled collections will be delayed by one day during the week of Jan. 15.

Parking: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Friday, Jan. 12, for the Lee-Jackson holiday and Monday, Jan. 15, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. HOV restrictions on Washington Street and U. S. Route 1 will be suspended on Jan. 12 and 15.

State Offices: All Commonwealth of Virginia offices located in Alexandria will be closed on Friday, Jan. 12, for the Lee-Jackson holiday. State offices will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. This includes the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the DMV Office at 2681 Mill Road.

Health Facilities: The Alexandria Health Department, one of 35 district offices operated by the Virginia Department of Health’s Division of Community Services, and the Flora Krause Casey Health Center at 1200 N. Howard St. will be closed on Friday, Jan 12, for the Lee-Jackson holiday and Monday, Jan. 15, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The Adolescent Health Center at 3701 W. Braddock Road will be open all day on Friday, Jan. 12, and will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15.

Hotlines: All emergency hotlines operated by the Alexandria Office on Women operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the domestic violence hotline, 703-838-4911, and the sexual assault hotline, 703-683-7273.
