Alexandria Police Investigate Homicide

Alexandria police are investigating the apparent murder of a man in the 100 block of South Washington Street. Today, around 10:30 a.m., police were called to 108 South Washington Street to assist medics with a man who was bleeding. The man died at the scene.

The victim, whose identity is not yet known, suffered multiple injuries. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

The victim was found in the lobby of an office building which houses the local probation and parole office. Detectives are investigating whether the victim was scheduled to be visiting that office today.

Currently, the northbound lanes of South Washington Street are closed at Prince Street as investigators document the crime scene. Northbound traffic is being diverted onto Prince Street at this time.

This is the first homicide in Alexandria this year. There were five murders in Alexandria last year.
