CITY OF ALEXANDRIA SEEKS VOLUNTEERS TO PROTECT WATER RESOURCES
January 21 Training Session Scheduled

The City of Alexandria is seeking volunteers through the Livable Neighborhood Water Stewardship Program to help protect the area’s water resources and control pollution. The program trains individuals committed to improving environmental quality to make a difference in their communities. Volunteer leaders recruit others, form a team, and work to improve neighborhood water quality. The next training session for volunteer leaders will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center, located at 5750 Sanger Ave. in Alexandria.

Each participant will receive a workbook that outlines simple action steps to guide his or her group in promoting healthy, water-friendly lifestyles. The workbook also shows volunteers how to save money and protect the environment.

The Livable Neighborhood Water Stewardship Program is managed by Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment in partnership with Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District, and Fairfax County. The program is funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

The Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center is served by the DASH AT #2. For route and schedule information, call 703-370-DASH or visit www.dashbus.com.

For more information on the Livable Neighborhood Water Stewardship Program or to volunteer, call 703-519-3400, extension 166, or e-mail volunteer@arlingtonenvironment.org.

The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the City’s Human Rights Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
