JANUARY 17 SESSION SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS
DESIGN PROCESS FOR WINDMILL HILL PARK BULKHEAD

The City of Alexandria invites the public to attend an information session to discuss the design process to be used for the proposed bulkhead at Windmill Hill Park. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St. The meeting will be the first in a series to provide updates on the project.

The planned bulkhead will provide a means to stabilize the Potomac River shoreline at the park, located at Union and Wilkes Streets. The project is part of the Approved Concept Plan for the renovation and construction of enhancements for Windmill Hill Park, which total approximately $3 million and are funded through the City’s Capital Improvement Program.

The Windmill Hill Park Approved Concept Plan was approved by City Council in April of 2003. The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities and the Department of Transportation and Environmental Services will jointly coordinate the process.

The Lee Center is served by DASH transit line #7. For route and schedule information, call 703-370-DASH or visit www.dashbus.com.

For more information on the meeting, call Aimee Vosper, Landscape Architect Supervisor, of the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities at 703-838-4343 or e-mail aimee.vosper@alexandriava.gov.
