ROUTE 1 TRAFFIC DELAYS EXPECTED ON SATURDAY, DEC. 16
DUE TO BELTWAY INTERCHANGE CONSTRUCTION

Major lane closures are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Route 1 in Alexandria at I-95/495 (the Capital Beltway). The lane closures are necessary for crews to complete paving work as part of the Route 1 Interchange construction for the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Motorists are advised to plan for delays or seek alternative routes on Saturday.

� Route 1 South: All lanes on Route 1 South between Franklin Street and I-95/Capital Beltway will be closed. Drivers heading in this direction will be detoured onto I-95 South/Beltway Inner Loop to the Telegraph Road South Exit to access I-95 North/Beltway Outer Loop and then back to Route 1 South.

� Route 1 North: Route 1 North will be constricted down to one lane between I-95/Capital Beltway and Franklin Street.

� Ramp Closures: The ramp from I-95 South/Beltway Inner Loop to northbound Route 1 will be closed. Motorists will continue on the Inner Loop to the Telegraph Road South Exit to access I-95 North/Beltway Outer Loop to Route 1 North.

Work may extend later than 6 p.m. on Saturday or continue on Sunday during the same hours, if needed, to complete the paving.
