JOBLINK, ALEXANDRIA’S ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER,
TEMPORARILY CLOSES FOR RELOCATION, DEC. 11 THROUGH DEC. 29

Human Services Workers Will Assist Center’s Clients Until New Office Opens

JobLink, Alexandria’s one-stop career center, will temporarily close its Business Center Drive office to the public for three weeks beginning Monday, Dec. 11, to move to a new location. During the relocation process, caseworkers and social workers will provide assistance for participants in the center’s Alexandria Works! and Food Stamp Employment programs at the Department of Human Services, 2525 Mt. Vernon Ave. Other services will resume when the center reopens on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The new career center will be located at 1900 N. Beauregard St., Suite 300, in the Mark Center office development near Seminary Road.

JobLink offers employment services to anyone seeking work through Alexandria Works! and the Office of Employment Training. Alexandria Works! helps welfare clients make a transition from welfare to work. Each participant is assigned a team of workers that assists with childcare, financial eligibility, and employment training. The team works to address any social-service barriers that might prevent a client from obtaining a job.

The Office of Employment Training provides career assessment, job counseling, job preparation, and job placement services to all job seekers. It also operates federally funded training programs for residents with disabilities, refugees, food-stamp recipients, youth, low-income residents, and workers who have been laid off.

When the center reopens, employers will resume receiving referrals of qualified candidates for job vacancies and assistance with job fairs and recruitments.
