Alexandria Police Investigate Bank Robbery in Old Town

The Alexandria Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a bank robbery that occurred last night in Old Town.

On Wednesday, around 6:15 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the Burke and Herbert Bank at 621 King Street through the back door. He approached the teller who was working at the walk-up window and displayed a gun. He demanded money and the victim complied. He fled from the bank through the back door.

The suspect is described as a light-complected male of unknown race, about 5-feet 9-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall, 170 pounds, and wearing a blue sweater, black jeans and a hooded black coat.

Detectives believe the suspect gained entry to the bank by using a key. The same bank was burglarized on the night of August 30-31 and investigation indicates that the suspect in that case also used a key get in.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703-838-4444 or 703-838-4711.
