CITY OF ALEXANDRIA TO HOST NOVEMBER 16 RECYCLING WORKS! EXPO
Attendees Will Learn How To Establish A Recycling Program
In Compliance With The City’s Recycling Ordinance

Alexandria’s Office of Recycling will host the City’s second Recycling Works! Expo from 9:30 am to noon on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Nannie J. Lee Memorial Center, 1108 Jefferson St. The free event will feature more than 20 exhibitors, from traditional solid waste and recycling providers to companies collecting ink cartridges, food waste, and hazardous materials such as mercury lighting, electronic equipment, and rechargeable batteries. This year’s Expo will also feature businesses dedicated to the redistribution of reusable consumer goods, such as Bikes for the World, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and ezAuctioning, a consignment service where individuals, businesses, and community organizations can drop off higher-value items for sale online at a fair price.

The Recycling Works! Expo will provide attendees with information on how to establish recycling programs in high-rise office buildings, restaurants, hotels, and other business settings in compliance with the City’s recycling ordinance. Businesses, property managers, condominium and homeowners associations, and others will find out more information on recycling vendors and how to implement a successful program and comply with the recycling ordinance adopted by the Alexandria City Council in February 2006.

The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria Small Business Development Center, Eisenhower Partnership, KSMET, Potomac West Business Association, West End Business Association, Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, and CARE Environmental are sponsoring the event.

Breakfast will be provided by Bittersweet Catering-Caf-Bakery and Tempo Restaurant and coffee by Cameron Perks.

For more information on the Recycling Works! Expo, call 703-751-5872 or visit www.alexrecycles.org.
