ALEXANDRIA PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION SCHEDULES
OCTOBER 26 HEARING ON PROPOSED ATHLETIC FIELD MASTER PLAN

The Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission will hold a public hearing on the City of Alexandria’s proposed Athletic Field Master Plan on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St.

During the hearing, Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities staff and consultants will present an overview of the draft master plan, followed by public comment. A regular meeting of the commission will follow the public hearing.

In a departure from its past public hearing procedures, the Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission will take comments from residents on any park and recreation issue immediately following the conclusion of comments on the draft Athletic Field Master Plan. The commission will continue to provide the opportunity for general comment from City residents at the conclusion of all topic-specific public hearings.

As part of its ongoing effort to provide additional opportunities for residents to provide input on park and recreation issues, the commission has also announced that future public hearings and regular monthly meetings will be held at various locations throughout the City.

Persons unable to attend the public hearing can send written comments to the Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission within two weeks of the hearing date in care of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria, VA 22314.

For more information on the public hearing, call Roger Blakeley, Deputy Director of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, at 703-838-4343.
