ALEXANDRIA HOSTS 13TH ANNUAL WALK TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER ON OCT. 21


Lace up your walking shoes, put your walking team together, start raising pledges, and get ready to participate in Alexandria’s 13th Annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer. The 2006 Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, presented by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Safeway Food & Drug, and Mix 107.3 FM, will be held at 8 am on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Cameron Run Regional Park, 4001 Eisenhower Ave.

Walkers can choose from a 1.5K/3.5K/5K walk or run, and the walk route is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Registration and parking will be located at AMC Hoffman Center Theatres, 2500 Eisenhower Ave., with free DASH shuttle service to the walk route. Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children, if pre-registered by Wednesday, Oct. 18. On-site registration is $35 and will begin at 6:30 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will support the Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund for Early Detection and Education at Inova Alexandria Hospital. Since 1994, more than 2,300 women in financial need have been provided mammograms through this program.
