CITY COUNCIL SCHEDULES OCTOBER 24 PUBLIC HEARING
FOR COMMENT ON UPCOMING FY 2008
BUDGET AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

The Alexandria City Council has scheduled a public hearing to receive comment on the City’s upcoming Fiscal Year 2008 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program during its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. The hearing will take place in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 301 King St. The hearing was previously scheduled for October 14 but was rescheduled due to the City Council’s lengthy docket on that date.

Fiscal Year 2008 will run from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. The October 24 public hearing will provide the public with an opportunity to express their views on budget priorities before the City Council sets its preliminary FY 2008 budget targets in November.

Persons wishing to speak at the public hearing must complete a speaker’s form before or at the hearing. A speaker’s form can be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, Room 2300. Requests to speak can also be e-mailed to jackie.henderson@alexandriava.gov.

Persons with disabilities who require assistance, or persons needing special arrangements to participate in the City Council meeting, such as translation services or language interpreters, should call the City Clerk at 703-838-4500 (TTY/TDD 703-838-5056). Please provide 48-hour notice to ensure special arrangements can be provided.

In lieu of testifying at the hearing in person, citizens may also submit their testimony to the City Clerk’s Office in writing. All testimony submitted in person or in writing will be incorporated into the public record.

Persons wishing additional information on the public hearing are advised to call the City’s Office of Management and Budget at 703-838-4806.
