ACCLAIMED CHEFS TO GIVE COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS
AT ALEXANDRIA’S FARMER’S MARKET

Beginning Saturday, Oct. 7, a series of nationally and internationally acclaimed chefs will give cooking demonstrations at Alexandria’s Saturday morning Farmer’s Market at Market Square in Old Town, 301 King St. The first chef scheduled to appear will be Kate Jansen, Executive Pastry Chef of the Willow Restaurant, on Oct. 7 at 9:30 am. Chef Jansen will prepare a sour-cream coffee cake with spiced Gala Apples. Samples will be available for tasting. The cooking demonstrations at the Farmer’s Market will continue every Saturday through Nov. 11.

Other chefs scheduled to appear are:

Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve on Oct. 14
Morou Ouattara of the Farrah Olivia Restaurant on Oct. 21
Arra Lawson of O’Connell’s Restaurant on Oct. 28
Executive Chef Bobby Beard of Vermillion Restaurant on Nov. 4
Executive Sous Chef Chad Stein and Chef Max Knoepsel of the Belle Haven Country Club on Nov. 11

The City of Alexandria, the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association, The Old Town Crier, and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington are sponsoring the cooking demonstrations.

Old Town Alexandria’s Farmer’s Market is open year-round at Market Square every Saturday from 5 am to 10:30 am. The market serves home baked goods, breads and pastries, locally grown organic produce, country crafts, jewelry, and more. Established in 1753, Market Square is thought to be the site of one of the nation’s oldest continually operating farmer’s market.

Free parking is available in the garage underneath Market Square during the hours of the Farmer’s Market.
