CITY OF ALEXANDRIA REMINDS RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES OF OCTOBER 5 PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX DEADLINE Convenient Payment Options Available The City of Alexandria reminds residents and business owners of the approaching October 5 deadline for payment of personal property tax. All personal property tax bills were mailed out by September 1. Windshield decals and parking zone decals were included where appropriate. Residents and businesses who own or lease a vehicle but have not received a tax bill should call the City’s Personal Property Branch at 703-838-4560 to obtain a copy of their bill. The Finance Department urges Alexandria taxpayers to pay their personal property taxes by mail or online to avoid waiting in line at City Hall. The City offers numerous convenient methods for paying the personal property tax: 3. Pay with a Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1-800-272-9829 or online at www.alexandriava.gov/finance. A convenience fee will be assessed by Official Payments Corporation for this service. The minimum fee is $3. Fees on billed amounts above $100 range between 2.5% and 10%. Taxpayers paying by phone will need to use the City’s jurisdiction code 1007. 4. Pay with a Discover card in person at the Treasury Division or by calling 703-838-4777 between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. A service fee will be assessed by Discover. Service fees range between $5 and $48 will for using this service. 5. Pay at any SunTrust Bank branch located in the City of Alexandria. SunTrust Bank will accept payment of the total amount printed on the personal property tax bill until 2 pm on Oct. 5, 2006. There is no fee for this service. 6. Pay in person at the Treasury Division, City Hall, 301 King St., Room 1510. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. A drop box located on the Royal Street side of City Hall is also available 24 hours a day.
