CITY HOSTS ANNUAL ALEXANDRIA SCOTTISH HERITAGE FAIR

The City of Alexandria will celebrate Scottish culture at the annual Scottish Heritage Fair on Sunday, October 8, from 10 am - 5 pm at Fort Ward Park, 4301 West Braddock Road. Admission is free, and the fair will occur rain or shine.

“The Scottish Heritage Fair is a wonderful family event for people of every national heritage to experience and enjoy,” said John Wallace, chairperson of the Alexandria Scottish Heritage Fair Council. “We invite everyone to join us to experience Scottish culture and celebrate Alexandria’s Scottish heritage.”

Entertainment features traditional Scottish music by Carl Peterson and Sean Daugherty, Gaelic Singing, Highland Dancing, Storytellers, Weavers, Fiddlers, and Scottish Sports. Exhibitors and vendors include Scottish Weaponry, a Ceilidh Tent, Genealogists, Scottish achievement and innovation, experts on Scottish dress, and traditional Scottish arts, crafts, and souvenirs. Food and beverage sales will also be available.

The City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is cosponsoring the festival with the Alexandria Scottish Heritage Fair Council, a local nonprofit organization that promotes and preserves Scottish heritage.
