SELECTION OF CITY OF ALEXANDRIA’S NEW POLICE CHIEF
TO BE ANNOUNCED TODAY AT 3:00 P.M. NEWS CONFERENCE

Alexandria City Manager James K. Hartmann will announce his selection of a new Police Chief at a news conference scheduled for 3:00 p.m. today in City Hall.

The selection follows the resignation of Charles E. Samarra, who served as Chief for the past 16-years, and a comprehensive application process in which all three of the City’s Deputy Police Chiefs emerged as finalists. Chief Samarra’s resignation became effective August 1, 2006.
