ALEXANDRIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS SCHEDULES PUBLIC HEARING ON FY 2008 GRANT PROGRAM A public hearing will be held to receive comments and suggestions for changes to the FY 2008 Alexandria Commission for the Arts Grant Program. The meeting will take place at 6 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Dr. Oswald Durant Memorial Center, 1605 Cameron St. At the hearing, the commission’s policy committee will present an overview of proposed changes to the commission’s FY 2008 Grant Program. A regular business meeting will follow. Persons who are unable to attend the public hearing can send written comments to: Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, Attention: Alexandria Commission for the Arts, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria, VA 22314. The goals of the Grant Program include encouraging artistic excellence in the City; assisting Alexandria-based arts organizations in improving their financial, administrative, and management capabilities; and providing individual artists with opportunities to create, perform, and present their works. Approximately $200,000 in funding is available to assist local artists and arts organizations.
