Alexandria Police Investigate a Double Shooting


Alexandria police are investigating a shooting that occurred this afternoon which left two Alexandria men in serious condition.

At approximately 3:44 p.m. this afternoon, Alexandria police officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Mount Vernon Avenue for the report of two men shot.

Investigation revealed that the victims, an 18-year-old and a 19-year old, both Alexandria residents, were in front of a group of stores on Mount Vernon Avenue when they were approached by two other men. The men became involved in some sort of an altercation before they were shot. The victims were flown to the Washington Hospital Center where they remain in serious condition.

Officers and detectives secured the scene and began to conduct a canvass of the area in attempts to locate witnesses. A motive has not yet been determined, and the case still remains under investigation.
