City of Alexandria Issues Street Paving Night Advisory

City of Alexandria paving contractors are working through the night until early August to complete resurfacing on several high-traffic corridors in the City. During this period, paving crews will be working Sunday nights through Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The affected streets are:
  • Patrick Street (U.S. Route 1 North) between Queen and First Streets;
  • Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. Route 1) from East Glebe Road to the Arlington County Line;
  • Mt. Vernon Avenue between Braddock Road and Commonwealth Ave.

“We regret the inconvenience to residents who live along these busy roadways,” said Richard Baier, Director of the Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, in announcing the paving schedule. “This is the only way we can complete these high-priority projects without causing serious traffic disruption.” The City Council approved a limited summer night paving schedule at its June 13 meeting.
