Sister City’s Choir Visits Alexandria
Caen University Choir to Perform at Market Square and in Washington, D.C.


The University Choir from Caen, Alexandria’s Sister City in France, will visit Alexandria from Sunday, July 9, through Friday, July 14. The Regional University of Caen Basse-Normandy Choir will perform at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 11, at the City’s Market Square, 301 King St., and at 6 pm on Thursday, July 13, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Admission is free for both performances. The visit will also include tours of Alexandria and Washington, D.C.


The Caen University Choir is an association whose mission is to ensure the continuity of musical practices in higher education. The choir has performed in Japan, Canada, and numerous locations in France.


The Alexandria City Employees Choir visited and performed in Caen in the summer of 2005 as part of a musical exchange program under the Sister Cities program, which is coordinated by the Alexandria-Caen Exchange Committee.


The City of Alexandria and the City Employees Choir are coordinating the choir’s visit to Alexandria and Washington, D.C.
