ALEXANDRIA VOLUNTEER AGENCIES PROVIDE FLOOD CLEANUP ASSISTANCE FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED

Volunteer agencies in Alexandria have recruited a corps of volunteers to assist elderly and disabled residents in cleanup activities in the wake of flash flooding that occurred earlier this week, the City’s Office of Emergency Management announced today.

The Alexandria Volunteer Bureau and Rebuilding Together Alexandria are both now providing volunteers to assist those with special needs.

Residents needing assistance should call The Alexandria Volunteer Bureau (703-836-2176) and Rebuilding Together Alexandria (703-836-1021) directly to arrange for volunteer help.

“Alexandrians have always come to each other’s aid in times of need,” said Mayor William D. Euille. “I am very pleased that our volunteer agencies have stepped forward to provide organized assistance to those who need it most.”
