City of Alexandria Invites Public to Attend Kick-Off Information Session On Proposed Synthetic Turf Athletic Field Renovation Program The City of Alexandria invites the public to attend a kick-off information session to receive information regarding the City’s plan to install synthetic turf athletic fields. The meeting will take place at 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 15, at the George Washington Middle School, 1005 Mt. Vernon Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information on the making and maintenance of synthetic infill turf athletic surfaces. The meeting’s featured speaker will be James Brosnan, a Ph.D. candidate at Penn State University. Brosnan is recognized for his expertise in synthetic infill turf systems and testing processes. His comparative research into turf systems and testing at Penn State University has been peer reviewed, is recognized at national and international levels, and is considered state of the art. The City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will hold additional meetings in the future to obtain community input.
