City of Alexandria and Arlington County Team Up
To Promote Reuse of Consumer Goods
Initial Meeting for Stakeholders Takes Place on May 22

The City of Alexandria and Arlington County will host a meeting to encourage the reuse of consumer goods, and to discuss ways the City and County can promote thrift and reuse programs and foster cooperation among these organizations. The meeting will take place from 1 to 3 pm on Monday, May 22, at the Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library, 5005 Duke St., in Alexandria.

Stakeholders, including for-profit and non-profit businesses, social service organizations, or any group that collects, distributes, or redistributes consumer products, including items such as furniture, clothing, food, books, computers, office supplies, or building materials, are invited to attend. During the meeting, stakeholders will meet with other reuse organization professionals and discuss ways to promote reuse as an option to disposal.

For more information on the meeting, call Christine McCoy of the City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services at 703.519.3486; or Jan Guastaferro of Arlington County’s Department of Environmental Services at 703.228.7866.
