Alexandria Police Close a Suspicious Death Case with an Arrest

Last night, Alexandria police executed two separate search warrants; one in Fairfax County and the other in the City. Evidence gathered in these searches proved beneficial in the continuing investigation of a homicide which occurred two months ago.

At 2:56 a.m. on March 21, officers were called to the 300 block of South Whiting Street for the report of an injured man. Officers found the victim deceased inside a parked car. Mustafa Aburanat, a 41-year-old Annandale man, had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police conducted a canvass of the area to locate potential witnesses.

After two months of investigation, police questioned a suspect last night as a result of the search warrants that were executed. Christopher James Martin, a 20-year-old man of 2242 North Beauregard Street in the City, was charged with Homicide and is being held without bond at the Adult Detention Center.
