City of Alexandria and Arlington County Celebrate the Adoption Of the Four Mile Run Restoration Master Plan The City of Alexandria and Arlington County will host a ceremony to celebrate the adoption of the Four Mile Run Restoration Master Plan on Saturday, April 29, at 8:30 am. The event will take place at Four Mile Run Park near 4131 Mt. Vernon Ave at the Mt. Vernon Avenue Bridge. Alexandria’s Earth Day Celebration will follow the ceremony. Citizens and staff from the City of Alexandria and Arlington County joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, and Congressman Jim Moran in planning the project. In this innovative and collaborative effort, plans are underway for an environmental restoration of the channel portion of Four Mile Run. The benefits of restoration include an enhancement of aquatic and riparian habitats and the establishment of Four Mile Run as a focal point, reflecting its value as a community resource. For more information on the Four Mile Run Restoration Master Plan, call Kathleen Beeton in the Department of Planning and Zoning at 703.838.4666, or Claudia Hamblin-Katnik in the Department of Transportation and Environmental Services at 703.519.3400, or Aimee Vosper in the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services at 703.838.5041.
