Pedestrian Injured in Crash

Today at approximately 4:00 p.m., a 12-year-old Alexandria boy was struck by a vehicle as he crossed the street near the intersection of East Glendale and Mount Vernon Avenues.

Investigation revealed that the victim was running across the road from east to west when he was struck by a blue 1999 Volkswagen Passat. The victim was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.

The motorist, a 21-year-old Alexandria man, stopped after striking the boy and police and medic units were called to the scene. The victim was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with head and facial injuries however, they do not appear to be life-threatening.

No charges have been placed at this time.
