Alexandria’s JobLink Sponsors TeensWork! Job Fair
Metro Area Employers Encouraged to Participate

JobLink, Alexandria’s One-Stop Career Center, will be sponsoring the annual TeensWork! Job Fair from 3:30 to 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 20. The job fair will take place in the cafeteria of T. C. Williams High School, 3330 King St. The annual event will give Metro area employers an opportunity to meet, interview, and hire City youth, ages 16 to 21, for part-time, full-time, and summer employment. Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille will address the job fair’s attendees as he kicks off the event.

“Because of the success of past job fairs, more and more businesses are using this event as a chance to interview energetic applicants and network with other businesses,” Mayor Euille said. “If a business is currently hiring, or will be in the next several months, this is an opportunity for it to find qualified candidates in a fun and cost-effective way.”

JobLink operates the TeensWork! Youth Employment Program, which is part of the Mayor’s Youth Employment Initiative. City staff assess and screen young job seekers to create the best match for workers and employers. Counselors teach participants how to properly complete a job application, write a resume, dress for the workplace, and act appropriately on the job.

Businesses are encouraged to support youth employment by attending the job fair and reserving space. TeensWork! staff expects more than 50 employers, educational institutions, and community agencies. Businesses that are interested in reserving a booth can call Lissette Pippy at 703.838.4316 or e-mail lissette.pippy@alexandriava.gov.
