Alexandria Police Investigate Stabbing

Today, at 8:47 a.m., Alexandria police were called to the area of East Linden and Commonwealth avenues for the report of a fight. Officers and medics found the victim, a 19-year-old Alexandria woman, suffering from a stab wound to the upper body.

Police believe that victim is acquainted with her assailants. Initial investigation indicates that the victim was driving when two suspects got out of another car and approached her. There was an argument that escalated into an altercation which resulted in the victim being stabbed.

The victim was flown by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center where she is undergoing surgery. Her condition is considered serious.

Police are searching for the suspects at this time.
