City of Alexandria Hosts Cherry Blossom Festival at Ben Brenman Park

The City of Alexandria will host the Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, April 8, from 9 am to 5 pm, at the Ben Brenman Park, 4800 Duke St. Admission is free and the festival will be held rain or shine.

The event celebrates the cherry trees that have been planted at Brenman Park through the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities’ cost share program, which provides residents with the opportunity to beautify and enhance City parks. Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille will dedicate the trees at 12:30 pm as part of the festivities.

The festival will feature an art show and sale, music, dance, a cherry pie eating contest, and children's activities. Featured performers include Mark Austin (contemporary acoustic) and the Alexandria Pipes and Drums Corps. Food will be available for purchase.

The City’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities and the Alexandria Cherry Blossom Festival Committee are cosponsoring the event.

For additional information on the Cherry Blossom Festival, call the City's Special Events Hotline at 703.883.4686 or the Special Events Office at 703.838.4844.
