City's Urban Forestry Steering Committee Seeks Community Input
On Development of City's Urban Forestry Plan

The City of Alexandria's Urban Forestry Steering Committee invites the public to participate in the development of the City's Urban Forestry Plan by completing a survey available at AlexandriaTrees.org. The purpose of the survey is to receive community input on the development of the City's Urban Forestry Plan.

The survey has been developed in cooperation with the Davey Resource Group, a nationally recognized consulting firm that was hired to assist the Committee in producing the plan. The Urban Forestry Plan will identify strategies to improve the health, quality, density, and diversity of Alexandria’s urban forest.

The City Manager created the Urban Forestry Steering Committee in 2004 to focus on issues derived from the goals and strategic recommendations established in the City of Alexandria’s Open Space Plan and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities’ Strategic Master Plan.

For additional information, call John Noelle, the City’s Arborist, at 703.838.4999 or e-mail john.noelle@alexandriava.gov. Persons who do not have Internet access may pick up a copy of the survey at a City library or the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St. Completed surveys may be mailed to the Arborist Office, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria, VA 22314, or faxed to 703.838.6344.
