Public Invited to Attend Juried Art Exhibit at City Hall
Opening Reception Will Be Held on Feb. 28


The City of Alexandria, The Art League, and The Del Ray Artisans are inviting the public to attend “Art in City Hall,” a juried exhibition at City Hall, 301 King St., second floor, on display now through July 21. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to noon.

A reception will be held to officially open “Art in City Hall” on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 7 pm at City Hall, room 2000. The exhibit is part of Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille’s initiative to promote the arts citywide. It is co-sponsored by the City of Alexandria, The Art League, and The Del Ray Artisans.

The exhibit, which was juried by M. V. Clark, founder and co-director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Washington, DC, features pieces in a variety of mediums. Awards were presented to the following artists:

! Best in Show – Cheryl Dwyer, “Moon Party,” Oil

! Second Place – Courtney Stevens, “Gigi,” Mixed Media Sculpture

! Third Place – Donna Carter, “City Squared,” Acrylic

! Honorable Mentions – Awarded to 12 local artists
