City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services
For Monday, Feb. 20, in Observance of President’s Day


Alexandria City government offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20, in observance of President’s Day.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 18, and Monday, Feb. 20.

The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Feb. 20. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Feb. 20.

City Schools will be closed on Feb. 20.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Feb. 20.

The Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Mt. Vernon, William Ramsay, and Nannie Lee recreation centers will be open from 9 am to 6 pm, and the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 am to 6 pm on Feb. 20. All other recreation centers will be closed.

City libraries will be closed on Feb. 20.

Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday, Feb. 20. All collection services will be delayed by one day the week of Feb. 20, as it has been the City’s practice on past holidays.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Feb. 20.

In addition, the City’s largest parade, the Washington Birthday Parade, will take place on Monday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 3 pm in Old Town Alexandria. Parking will be restricted on the parade route. For more information on the parade route and a map, visit washingtonbirthday.org or call 703.991.4474.

The Alexandria Office on Women emergency hotlines will be fully staffed and operational on Monday, Feb. 20. The domestic violence hotline, 703.838.4911, and sexual assault hotline, 703.683.7273, as with all Office on Women hotlines, operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
