Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Crash

Tonight at approximately 7:08 p.m., a 32-year-old Fairfax County woman was struck by a vehicle as she was walking to her vehicle parked along the southeast curb in the 4300 block of Taney Avenue.

Investigation revealed that the victim was unloading items from a white 1998 four-door Subaru that was double-parked in the roadway with its emergency flashes on, when a motorist driving eastbound on Taney Avenue struck her, jumped the curb, and then came to rest on a front lawn of a nearby apartment building.

The motorist, a 32-year-old Alexandria man, was driving a 2006 silver four-door Honda. The victim was flown to the Washington Hospital Center with serious leg and head injuries however, they do not appear to be life-threatening.

The Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and have begun their investigation. No charges have been placed at this time.
