Alexandria Auto Dealer Donates Parkland to City
To Use As Part of Four Mile Run Multi-use Trial

Jack Taylor, a local auto dealer and owner of Alexandria Toyota, has donated 3.98 acres of parkland to the City of Alexandria to use as part of the Four Mile Run Multi-use Trail. The nearly four acres of parkland are located adjacent to the car dealership at 3750 Jefferson Davis Highway. The land presently connects portions of the Four Mile Run Multi-use Trail.

“This is a very generous gift, and we appreciate Jack Taylor’s donation very much,” said Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille. “This is another fine example of his dedication to the Alexandria community.”

The Alexandria Planning Commission and City Council approved the request to accept the donation as a gift to the City in December 2005. The donation augments the City’s resources for open space and establishes in perpetuity the Four Mile Run Multi-use Trail. The existing Four Mile Run Multi-use Trail will continue to operate under its current practices with oversight provided by the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.

For additional information on the donation and the Four Mile Run Multi-use Trail, call Laura Durham, the City’s Open Space Coordinator, at 703.838.4842.
