City of Alexandria’s Urban Forestry Steering Committee Invites Public to Attend Open House to Discuss City’s Urban Forestry Plan The City of Alexandria's Urban Forestry Steering Committee is inviting the public to attend an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 pm at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St. The purpose of the open house is to receive community input on the development of the City's Urban Forestry Plan that will identify strategies to improve the health, quality, density, and diversity of Alexandria’s urban forest. Attendees will have the opportunity to: C Participate in round-table discussions and present their views on the condition of the City's urban forest; C Review and comment on the City's current policies and programs in maintaining, protecting, and preserving the City's tree canopy; and C Discuss the vision for the future of the City's urban forest The City Manager created the Urban Forestry Steering Committee in 2004 to focus on issues derived from the goals and strategic recommendations established in the City of Alexandria Open Space Plan and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities’ Strategic Master Plan.
