Alexandria Police Investigate Homicide
Alexandria police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Washington, D.C., man that occurred late last night. Police were called to the 900 block of Montgomery Street at 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday, after receiving calls for shots fired.
The victim, 22-year-old Lawrence C. Sims, was found in the 800 block of Montgomery Street. He had been shot and was unresponsive. Medics transported him to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m.
Officers and detectives secured the scene and are conducting a canvass of the area in an attempt to locate witnesses. A motive has not yet been determined, and the case still remains under investigation.
This is the fourth homicide in Alexandria this year.
