City of Alexandria and Potomac Yard Development Hold
Community Meeting on Construction for Monroe Avenue Bridge

The City of Alexandria and the Potomac Yard Development LLC will hold a community meeting on the construction of the straightening of the Monroe Avenue Bridge. The meeting will take place at 7 pm at the George Washington Middle School Auditorium, 1005 Mount Vernon Ave., on Monday, Dec. 12. Representatives of the City and the Potomac Yard Development LLC will present information on the project’s construction, the construction schedule, and what impacts may be expected during construction.

City Council approved the straightening of the Monroe Avenue Bridge in January 2003 as part of the Potomac Yard Development Plan. Since then, plans for construction have been finalized and a schedule for implementation has been developed.

Construction on the Monroe Avenue Bridge is expected to begin this winter.

For more information on the meeting and project, call Emily Baker of the City’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services at 703.838.4327.
