Alexandria Police Investigate a Homicide
Victim Shot Multiple Times


Tonight, at approximately 5:09 p.m., an adult male was shot multiple times.

Police and medic units were called to the 400 block of North Patrick Street and discovered the victim suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. The victim, David Curtis Murphy, a 37-year-old male of 420 North Patrick Street, was taken to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m.

Investigation revealed that the victim had been outside working on his 1989 Ford pickup truck when a man approached and shot him. The suspect then fled on foot north on North Patrick Street. There is no description at this time for the suspect.

Officers and detectives secured the scene and began to conduct a canvass of the area in attempts to locate witnesses. A motive has not yet been determined, and the case still remains under investigation.
