December 12 is the Deadline to Nominate Homes and Businesses
For Alexandria's Holiday Decorating Contest

Contest Goes Online at WWW.FUNSIDE.COM.

The Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association invites all of Alexandria, both businesses and residences, to enter the 2005 Holiday Decorating Contest. This year’s contest goes online at www.FunSide.com so that everyone can easily participate in selecting the 2005 Decorating Contest winners.

There’s only a short time left to nominate Alexandria businesses and residences for the Contest. December 12 is the deadline for nominations; voting for the winners begins December 16 and ends December 26. A successful contest depends on strong participation from both the businesses and residential communities. Who’s got the most holiday spirit in your neighborhood? Which Alexandria business shows the most holiday spirit? Here’s your chance to nominate your favorite selections for the Best Decorated Home and the Best Decorated Business in Alexandria.

Festive holiday decorations mean more than ever when the City’s holiday theme is “The Gift is Being Here.” Decorating your business will help to create a festive holiday ambiance and make shoppers feel welcome in Alexandria. Residents, here is your opportunity to create that holiday mood throughout Alexandria’s neighborhoods.

Businesses and homes should be nominated based on their display of holiday spirit, which includes but is not limited to originality, historic ambiance, humor, lights and color. The ACVA encourages all business organizations and civic associations to tell their members about the contest. The more nominations, the merrier!

On December 16, the top six businesses and homes, based on the number of nominations received, will be placed on the online Voting Page with a picture, address and, when appropriate, name of business. Visit www.FunSide.com, click on “Holiday Decorating Contest – Vote for Your Favorite” and vote for your favorite business and home.

Winners will be announced at First Night Alexandria. Winning businesses will be advertised in the Alexandria Gazette and Alexandria Times. Winners of the home decorating contest will receive one of three gift certificates from Conklyn’s Florist.
