Police and ITS/Web Team Launch New Web Site;
Investigation of Nancy Dunning Murder Continues Two Years Later
On the two-year anniversary of the murder of Nancy Dunning, the Alexandria Police Department and members of the Information Technology Services Web Team will officially launch a web site to encourage people with information to come forward.
The site, www.alexandriava.gov/dunning, is a stand-alone, secured web site where people can anonymously leave tips and information. For those who do not have access to the Internet, information can be mailed to:
Nancy Dunning Tips
P.O. Box 22673
Alexandria, VA 22311
Detectives continue to make this very complex case a top priority. “We do not consider this case a cold investigation. We still believe that Nancy was targeted and that her murder could be connected to an event or relationship in her recent past,” says Chief of Police Charles E. Samarra.
Today, at 1:00 p.m., police and community members will post a large sign on the median strip at Commonwealth and West Mount Ida Avenues reminding residents that there is still a $100,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case. During the afternoon, they will also be passing out flyers to area residents announcing the new web page and reminding people of the candlelight vigil that will take place tonight in honor of Nancy’s death.
Community members will be marching from the corner of East Oxford and Mount Vernon Avenues starting at 6:00 p.m. and will hold a brief vigil at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
