Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade to be held on December 3


Alexandria's annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade takes place on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 am in historic Old Town. The event celebrates the City's Scottish heritage and marks the 60th anniversary of the Campagna Center. The parade features more than 100 Scottish clans, dressed in traditional tartans and playing bagpipes, who march through the historic streets of Alexandria along with living history re-enactment units. Old Town houses and shops will be decorated for the holidays. The parade will be held rain or shine. This year, the parade route includes one block of South Washington Street (400 block) with a reviewing stand located in front of the Campagna Center, 418 S. Washington St. Street closures around the parade route will begin at 8 am and end at 2 pm. Traffic will be detoured from South Washington Street (300 to 600 blocks) and re-routed to South Columbus and South Alfred Streets.

The parade:

• begins at the intersection of Wilkes and South Pitt Streets and travels north on South Pitt Street,
• turns right onto King Street, continues east to North Fairfax Street,
• turns left onto North Fairfax Street, continues north to Queen Street,
• turns left onto Queen Street, continues west to North Saint Asaph Street,
• turns left onto North Saint Asaph Street, continues south to Wolfe Street,
• turns right onto Wolfe Street, continues west to South Washington Street,
• turns left onto South Washington Street, continues south past the reviewing stand,
• turns left onto Wilkes Street, and ends at the intersection of Wilkes and South Saint Asaph Streets.

The Scottish Christmas Walk Parade is co-sponsored by the Campagna Center, the St. Andrew's Society of Washington, DC, and the City of Alexandria.
