City of Alexandria Hosts Vintage Jewelry Sale on Nov. 11 to Benefit Local Seniors

The City of Alexandria will host an Ornament and Vintage Jewelry Sale on Friday, Nov. 11, from 9 am - 5 pm. The event will take place at the Mt. Ida Avenue entrance of the City’s Human Services Center, 2525 Mt. Vernon Ave. Proceeds from the sale will be deposited into the Emergency Services Fund for the City’s Office of Aging and Adult Services and will benefit local senior citizens.

Social workers use the Emergency Services Fund to pay for items and services for needy seniors when there is no other source of funding available. These needs can include high-cost prescription drugs that are not covered by insurance; temporary housing for people whose homes have been condemned due to hoarding; durable medical equipment not covered by insurance; and clothing, food, and other items to help seniors maintain their independence.

All of the jewelry for the fundraiser was donated to the Office of Aging and Adult Services. The public is invited to take advantage of this early holiday shopping opportunity to find unique and unusual gifts or add to their own jewelry and ornament collections, while at the same time helping local seniors.

For more information on the event or services available to local seniors, call the Office of Aging and Adult Services at 703.838.0920.
