Alexandria Police Host Explorer Program Tonight at T.C. Williams

The Alexandria Police Department will hold a “First Night” recruitment event tonight to introduce the Police Explorer program to new members.

Alexandria’s Explorer Post 810 is open to Alexandria residents ages 14 to 21, and interested teens and young adults are invited to attend tonight’s meeting at 6:30 p.m., at T.C. Williams High School (3330 King Street) in Alexandria.

Explorer members receive leadership and introductory law enforcement education. By assisting police at community and crime prevention events, Explorers gain experience in civic and public safety matters.

“This is an excellent opportunity for young people interested in police work to find out what the job is really about,” says Officer Dana Mitchell, adviser to Explorer Post 810. “It’s great preparation for a career in law enforcement or in any aspect of public service.”
