City of Alexandria Announces Holiday Schedule
For Monday, Oct. 10, in Observance of Columbus Day


Alexandria City government offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10, in observance of Columbus Day.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 8, and Monday, Oct. 10.

Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday, Oct. 10. All collection services will be delayed by one day the week of Oct. 10.

In addition, all City libraries will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10.

On Monday, Oct. 10, Patrick Henry Recreation Center, Charles Barrett Recreation Center, and all part-time recreation centers will be closed. Charles Houston, William Ramsey, Cora Kelly, Nannie Lee, and Mt. Vernon Recreation Centers will be open from 9 am to 6 pm. Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will operate from 6 am to 6 pm.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, Oct. 10.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the City will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Monday, Oct. 10. HOV lane restrictions on Route 1 and Washington Street will be lifted on Monday, Oct. 10.

Alexandria City Public Schools will be open on Monday, Oct. 10.

State offices located in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10.

The Alexandria Office on Women emergency hotlines will be fully staffed and operational on Monday, Oct. 10. The domestic violence hotline, 703.838.4911, and sexual assault hotline, 703.683.7273, as with all Office on Women hotlines, operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
