Alexandria Police Investigating Homicide;
District Man Shot and Killed


Alexandria police are investigating the apparent shooting death of an 18-year-old Washington, D.C., man in Del Ray.

Today, at 12:39 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of East Mason Avenue for reports of subjects fighting and gunfire. Officers discovered the victim in a parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are canvassing the area. No arrest has been made and a motive for the shooting has not been determined. There is no suspect description at this time.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
