Alexandria Prepares for Potential Flooding
In Area of King and Union Streets


Due to high tides and wind, the City of Alexandria is preparing for possible Potomac River flooding in the area of King and Union streets in Old Town Alexandria over the next few days. Flooding is expected to occur around 6:42 pm today and 7:06 am tomorrow. The City encourages businesses in the unit and 100 blocks of King Street and the 100 and 200 blocks of Union Street to take the necessary steps to protect their properties. No residential properties are expected to be affected.

Business owners may want to place sand bags on their properties for protection. Sandbags are available for pickup at King and Union streets. For more information, call 703.838.4488 until 5 pm or 703.548.6257 after 5 pm.
