Alexandria Library Installs
Newly Upgraded, On-Line Catalog System

The Alexandria Library will begin installing a newly upgraded, on-line catalog system at its library branches on Wednesday, Aug. 17. The Dynix Horizon offers user-friendly technology that allows faster and smarter searching and easier communication between the Alexandria Library and its patrons, such as automatic e-mail notification of overdue items.

Along with the new catalog system, patrons will notice a faster, sleeker Alexandria Library homepage, with one-click ease to patron records, renewing of checked out items, reserving items, and searching the catalog. The general navigation through the pages of the Alexandria Library’s site is more intuitive, and it is no longer dependent on “drop down” menus with tiny print.

The Alexandria Library will be installing Dynix Horizon at the Beatley Central, 5005 Duke St.; Barrett Branch, 717 Queen St.; and Burke Branch, 4701 Seminary Rd., on Wednesday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 19. The Duncan Branch will offer Dynix Horizon to its patrons when it re-opens in mid-September.

Dynix Horizon also upgrades patron check out and registration functions.

Dynix provides products and services to over 11,000 libraries worldwide.
