CRUISE TO HELP THE FUND FOR ALEXANDRIA’S CHILD

The Advisory Council for The Fund for Alexandria’s Child at the Department of Human Services, invites the public to join the 2nd annual Fostering the Future: the Age of Aquarius Cruise aboard the Cherry Blossom. The event will help raise funds for children in foster care and at risk of abuse or neglect. The Age of Aquarius Cruise takes place Thursday evening, September 15, beginning with a cocktail reception at the dock from 6:30 until 7:30 pm and a cruise on the Potomac from 7:30 until 9:30 pm. Tickets are $65 per person (for adults only, please) and the cost is tax deductible to the full extent of the law. The Cherry Blossom, a luxurious refurbished paddleboat, is docked at the foot of King Street in Old Town Alexandria, behind the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
The Age of Aquarius Cruise promises to be a groovy get-together, with a light buffet by Mango Mike’s, and a full bar. Wine is courtesy of William Harrison Imports. The Joe Chiocca Band will provide music of the 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Have fun while you support The Fund for Alexandria’s Child and make a real contribution to children who would not otherwise have the normalizing experiences that make our lives richer.

The Fund provides enriching and rewarding activities for some of society’s most forgotten children, children in foster care or at risk of abuse and neglect, when there are no funds available from any other source. It is administered by social workers who know the children best and can put the money where it is needed the most. The Fund provides Scout uniforms and dues, sports equipment, karate or art lessons, class field trips, prom dresses, graduation fees, community college books, and many other important items or experiences that everyone should have.

The Cruise Sponsor is Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. Other major supporters of The Age of Aquarius Cruise (as of August 5) are: Potomac Riverboat Company; Belmont, Inc.; The Honorable William D. Euille; Sue and Marty Goodhart, Realtors; Bobi Burns Williams, Weichert; Susan Hand, Weichert; Rob and Callie MacKenzie; Family Advocacy Services of Virginia; Caboose Caf and Bakery; Los Tios Grill; Studio Body Logic-Pilates; Weichert Realtors; and UBS Financial/Alexandria.
