Alexandria Police Investigate a Shooting

This morning, at approximately 9:21 a.m., an adult male was shot. Police and medic units were called to 100 block of South Van Dorn Street and discovered the victim, a 46-year-old Alexandria man, suffering from a gun shot wound. Officers and detectives secured the scene and began to conduct a canvass of the area in attempts to locate witnesses.

Preliminary findings revealed that this shooting may have been the result of a robbery however, detectives continue their investigation. The suspect is described as a black male, 20-25 years old, 5'7"-5'9", 140-160 pounds and was wearing a black t-shirt with either white lettering or a design on the front and blue jeans.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he remains in stable condition for his non-life threatening injury.
